Intellectual property law

Property Rights

Intellectual property rights play an increasingly important role, both in sports and beyond. Intellectual property rights include trademark rights, copyrights and patents. Perhaps even more important are portrait rights (image rights). Although portrait rights are not formally intellectual property rights, they have strong similarities to them. We advise and litigate on intellectual property rights and portrait rights. And, of course, we also draft contracts for our clients. This of course includes sponsorship contracts.

Work

At BMDW Lawyers, we have all the necessary legal capabilities and the right network to provide intellectual property assistance to our clients. We can assist with:

  • Structuring portrait rights of professional athletes (for example, in employment contracts or sponsorship contracts);
  • The protection of intellectual property rights of clubs or sports associations;
  • Complex legal issues on NFTs;
  • Drafting licensing terms (for example, for games or music);
  • Legal proceedings over infringements of your trademark or product;
  • The legal support of influencers and esporters.

How do we work?

Our broad international network and our experience in representing a wide range of (sports-related) clients in various capacities enables us to solve problems and disputes in a thorough, incisive and neat manner. Of course, we do so in consultation with you. After all, it is your case and it is your interests that we represent.
